shopping is a sport.

music: when i saw you by mariah carey

i hereby declare shopping a sport.

the stamina needed to walk the endless stretch of shopping centres and to squeeze through the teeming crowd.

the agility to balance shopping bags on both arms while tottering on killer heels. (okay, females only.)

the amazing deduction skills needed to anticipate competition for a certain item on sale, combined with stamina and agility to get there in time to snatch it from under the competitor's nose.

shopalympics: for the tai-tais and shopaholics. not for the weak hearted.

i've failed at that. i have yet to master this sport and am not exactly keen on mastering it. i've never had much of an affinity for shopping, but i guess it was good that mom and sis dragged me shopping today since i managed to get stuff for rather reasonable prices. even in my nice, comfy slipper/sandals, my engine went kaputt after going to the second shopping centre. and for the rest of the time, i just stoned, walking around like a zombie.

i was probably the most sloppily dressed one in the whole of orchard road. clad in my cute, oversized tigger and eeyore shirt and uber comfortable fbt shorts. truly, i don't really care what i'm wearing since there's no one to impress anyway. after all, no one said orchard road had a dress code. it was much easier trying on clothes this way too.

moreover, being dressed sloppily means clingy sales assistants (urgh) won't bother sticking themselves to you since you look like you won't be able to afford anything, and thus by deduction, unable to earn them commision. from the point of view of economists if marginal benefit is less than marginal cost, there is no point pursuing it. i like it that way anyway, since i absolutely detest having a pair of expectant eyes tracking my every movement and an all too fake chirpy voice listing out the whole range to me as if i could absorb and digest all that sales talk then and there.

shopping is tiring.
i don't think i'd ever want to be a tai-tai.
