woke up to this, this morning. it marks the start of much much more! this is lake-effect snow, by the way, it happens when it's actually very clear in your area, but the cold winds move across warmer lake water (in our case, lake erie) picking up water vapour which freezes into snow. doesn't happen in many places, i guess buffalo's just lucky.
