hark! listen.

am listening to ain't afraid to die by dir en grey. it's been awhile since i listened to it. it's really a very hmmm, how should i say this. beautiful song. especially the guitar solo, it just makes me want to melt. it's a song of lost love and the emotions are brought out so well, they are one amazing band.

haha, my j-rock phase wasn't too long ago. i still like it, i've just been listening to other genres more lately. does anyone have ironic by alanis morissette?

i'm starting school oh so soon.
whoaaa.

and so we lay awake, expectantly.

edit: okay. i read my previous post again and i realised i said that nothing irks me more than the display of bad sportsmanship. sounded weird to me, and then i realised that there isn't such a thing as bad sportsmanship. it's either you have it, or you lack it.

i'm not in the best of moods now.
some things happen and they happen again and again.
i guess you're supposed to get used to it eventually and just end up being immune to it.
but really, some things aren't that easy.

haha. blogging seems to have become my reprieve from everything. putting things down in words seem to make me gain some perspective on my situation, and sometimes, see things differently.

i still have a long way till i grow up man. or maybe some part of me is still resisting it.

santa claus is coming to town.

was singing christmas carols due to some feeling of randomness. knowing that i'm at home while everyone else is slogging their ass off in school is a very strange feeling. thewomanopposite (okay i really don't want to talk about her) saw me looking healthy and robust, walking around the neighbourhood during school hours yesterday and gave me a strange little look. maybe she was thinking, "HA. i always knew she looked like a potential dropout!"

shrugs. anyhow, back to the christmas carols, i thought that if i ever set up my own kindergarden or primary school, i will make the school song "Santa Claus is Coming to Town".

and every morning they'd be reminded that they'd "better not shout", "better not cry", "better be good" cause SANTA CLAUS IS COMING TO TOWNNN. and the school motto, "So be Good, for Goodness' Sake". sounds good, no? okay, crappy. i know.

thought i'd post the passage inscripted on the Shakespeare memorial in sydney.

"Our revels are now ended,
These our actors as i foretold you,
Were all spirits,
And melted into air, into thin air.
And, like the baseless fabric of this vision,
The cloud capp'ed towers,
The gorgeous places.
The solemn temples, the globe itself.
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve.
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind.
We are such stuff as dreams are made on,
And our little life is rounded in sleep."

never liked Shakespeare's works much, but well, food for thought.

juniors lost in the national finals match versus anderson yesterday. i must say, there is nothing that irks me more than the outright display of bad sportsmanship, and i do not hesitate to state here that the opponent was very good at that. their coach, their supporters, man.

nevertheless, i am very proud of the b division batch '07 of rgsbball because they fought right down to the very last second no matter the situation and displayed true sportsmanship
throughout the whole match. what we saw, really, was the raffles spirit.

it's always nice to see how they have grown, and they really did. (:

will be dropping by rj tomorrow to hand in my ORA card before they lodge a police report for a missing card. haha.

AUSTRALIA HERE FANGXUN COMESSSS.

leaving for australia tonight!
met ngiam to get books yesterday, hweeleong and angel were there too. after hweeleong was done with his stuff, hweeleong ngiam and i went to get bubble tea.

sat down at the playground to chat and we played i never. which i happened to lose and thus had to go on the, uhhh, thing at the playground that you sit on and spin and spin and spin non stop till you're giddy and want to puke and leaves you unable to see or stand straight.

hweeleong decided to hop on, only to regret his decision.

at that moment, little girl A decided ngiam looked like a strong, young lad who could push the turny thing (let's just assume it's called "turny thing") so hard that it would spin her to Oz hopped on happily, while telling ngiam, "FASTER!" so while hweeleong and i clung on for dear life, little girl A sat there like a queen being teleported into an alternate universe with stars and butterflies, and, whatever little girls think of.

which reminded me of a quote Morrie (from Tuesdays with Morrie) said about childish boldness, what kids think after doing something highly dangerous like cycling down a steep slope at high speed: "that wasn't so hard, we think, and we are ready to take on death again."

after that, we ended up played freeze and melt with her, a long-forgotten game, to me, and two other little boys joined us. haha. it was quite nice to go back to the childhood days.

just reminds us how nice it is to delight in simple things.

okay! i'm off. hahaha.
plane's at 9pm tonight.
will be back by the 25th.
don't miss me too much!
hahahahaha.

"splish-splash", goes everything but the groceries.

since it's a rainy day today, i thought it'd be apt to post a lit journal i did in sec one with a poem very predictably titled, "Rainy Day". stuff in red are additions by the sec one lit teacher, mr connolly.

so here goes:

16/2/2003

Rainy day

Raindrops go "pitter-patter" on the rooftops
Puddles "splish-splash" under my shoes
My teeth "clackering" in the cold
As i made my way through the "whooshing" wind

The sun had disappeared with a "poof"
"Growl" the clouds rumble as they cover the sky
"Click-clack" goes the housewife's high-heeled shoes
Their dresses "swishing" as they rush out to keep the wash

In the field, frogs "croak" madly with joy
On the road, cars "honk" impatiently
"Slam" goes the door when i reach home
"Tsk! Tsk!" my mother cried, for i had gotten wet,
Playing on this rainy day.

Good, vivid description!

Journal entry:
This week's Literature lessons were pretty interesting. We learnt about a type of poem called onomatopoeia. Before we start on that, i shall talk about the lesson when Mr Connolly only came in during the last 15 minutes. For those who had Speech and Drama before Literature, they had one hour and forty-five minutes of "free time". Boy, were they happy.
I wasn't!

Okay, back to onomatopoeia. We learnt that onomatopoeia poems included sound words like "bang", "boom", "thud" and so on. At the end of the lesson we were told to write a onomatopoeia poem. That's why you can see a poem at the front of the journal entry.

Well, i guess i shall end here today. I'm looking forward to our next Literature lesson!
So am i!

:D

little lily.

little lily neat and prim,
went out for a cooling swin.
"splash!" she went into the water,
wetting her pretty feathers.
round and round lily went,
until she had to stop to pant.
but littly lily did not mind,
for after all this you would find.
that little lily neat and prim.
had become fit and trim.

mr connelly's comments: maybe this is too sensible to be a nursery rhyme!

clearing my secondary school stuff, and found lots of pieces of work that i did. looking through my sec one lit file was hilarious, and "little lily" is a nursery rhyme i wrote for sec one lit class. there's much more but i figured i'd put it up in moderation.

funny how we grow.

on another note, i watched the number 23 with tzung today. sianying dumped us last minute for her family outing and there was much miscommunication with elton. walking out of the cinema, you'd unconsciously start looking out for all things 23. it's a show that's definitely worth catching.
i bought the pretty woman dvd today! splurged eighteen bucks on it, but i totally don't mind since i'm such a diehard romantic and this was the first love story that sparked off my childish love for, well, love stories.

for what it's worth, it was worth all the while.

LOVE! LOVE!
to everyone and anyone.
I LOVE YOU GUYS.

hahaha.

my life in rjc, albeit being just a mere four months is an experience i will never forget!

starting from orientation, MR05 (L33T TITANS), then 08SO7A (new and old), and all the friends i made here and there, just with a simple "hi" and stuff. unfamiliar faces that are no longer stranger to me, friends that i made after coming here, friends that i've had with me since forever, close friends that i'm ever so thankful for, though i hardly express it.

special mention to sianying. THANK YOU.

i have to admit, leaving this all behind isn't the easiest of things but new beginnings are good, aren't they?

will really try my very best to keep in touch with everyone, despite busy schedules and stuff, especially when my term starts and everyone's schedules get uber busy. my promise here, is to really try my best. after all, the easiest part of parting is the familiar uttering of "keep in touch" but more often than never, those words eventually fade into the background, pushed into the backseat by hectic schedules, clashing timetables, appearance of new friends, other commitments.

soon enough, i'll be going into something i am totally new to. i know that it's not going to be a breeze and i'll really need to get down to work and be serious about things. no more procrastinating. it's a reality check of sorts, because realising that you will have the absolute freedom to choose whether you want to make it or break it, sometimes that's scary.

self discipline. what i lack and what i really need now.

expectations. we like acting like we don't care since it's our own lives so we should be able to do whatever we want with it, but there are hopes and dreams that are pinned on us. dreams that people hope to come true through us, and letting them down, it's perhaps the most painful thing.

fear. of not being able to do it, not living up to expectations, of all things unexpected. it's insecurity, i suppose. it's something that must be overcomed, but not forgotten.

no regrets. our basketball team goal last year. we all hope to be able to live like that, but it's hard, to me, at this point of time. will keep trying to achieve that.

choking up, reflecting on stuff is always an emotional process for me. after all, i always think super highly of myself. :D

my sudden urge to belt out you give me something by james morrison in the middle of the night should remain an urge and nothing more.

haha, goodnight, world!

bang bang boom!

"drink YEO's for brainy kids!"
i thought that line was very apt for this photo. it just happened and i snapped it. haha.
tomorrow's my last day, and i'm emo-ing now for a number of reasons. grouchy is my current best friend, but just for the night. shall go sleep it off.

much randomness intact.

sitting in boring classes, jerome (who has left the class) and i used to do random things such as chain drawings and chain stories. so today during lit lecture, i decided to start another chain story. it basically goes like this, i write a sentence, and pass it to jerome, he continues, and it goes back and forth. halfway through, sianying was included. much of today's involves snippets from the lecture on modernist poetry and random insertions of poetry lines, so it'd be normal if you didn't understand it.

basically it goes like this (me, jerome, sianying) :

One fine day, Pikachu decided to go hiking. Along the way, he felt an urgent need to stress the aristocracy of the avant-garde, the cutting edge literary class. He believed that we should not write about hormonally charged young things prancing around rose gardens expressing their candles between another's thighs; instead, they should shift into the cutting edge of technique and thought, hiding anything in artist-only formats that needed intellectuals to explain what the lick and suck of the salt and sand really reflected the charismatic guy that was EZRA POUND. Pikachu exclaimed, "I have brought the great ball of crystal; who can lift it?" Then Chip and Dale leapt out of their leafy haven, asking, "ACORN, WHO SAID ACORN?!?!" Nobody knew. Nobody had. Chip and Dale were carted off for treatment--hallucinations, after all, were a sign of severe psychosis. Still, the clam shells between Nigeria and Carai were truly long legged who presumed a world taken for granted on which the cricket farts. "Come back!" they whined. Wanting nothing more but forward-thinking men, but in the end, it all got too complicated for people, so they had a disco dance-off instead. Thankfully, the insanity was stopped by Pikachu pointing into the horizon at a man staggering through the lush greenery, he muttered monotonously, "Here is someone dying."
-end-

on a more random note, tzungsiang loves TEH BING.

till i hear it from you.

Soundtrack: Empire Records
Title: Till I Hear It From You (Gin Blossoms)

I didn't ask
They shouldn't have told me
At first I'd laugh, but now
It's sinking in fast
Whatever they've sold me
Well baby I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you
It gets hard
The memory's faded
Who gets what they say
It's likely they're just jealous and jaded
Well maybe I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you
Until I hear it from you
I can't let it get me off
Or break up my train of thought
As far as I know, nothing's wrong
Until I hear it from you
Still thinking about not living without it
Outside looking in
Til we're talking about it, not stepping around it
Maybe I don't want to take advice from fools
I'll just figure everything is cool
Until I hear it from you.

one of the first few shows i fell in love with. empire records.
was reminded of it when the song was played on linxi's ipod while painting our banner for campaigning. now i can't stop listening to the song.
haha. just copied the whole season two of my name is earl onto sis' laptop. darn excited to watch it now. hahaha.
next week's my last week in rjc!
