shopping is a sport.

music: when i saw you by mariah carey

i hereby declare shopping a sport.

the stamina needed to walk the endless stretch of shopping centres and to squeeze through the teeming crowd.

the agility to balance shopping bags on both arms while tottering on killer heels. (okay, females only.)

the amazing deduction skills needed to anticipate competition for a certain item on sale, combined with stamina and agility to get there in time to snatch it from under the competitor's nose.

shopalympics: for the tai-tais and shopaholics. not for the weak hearted.

i've failed at that. i have yet to master this sport and am not exactly keen on mastering it. i've never had much of an affinity for shopping, but i guess it was good that mom and sis dragged me shopping today since i managed to get stuff for rather reasonable prices. even in my nice, comfy slipper/sandals, my engine went kaputt after going to the second shopping centre. and for the rest of the time, i just stoned, walking around like a zombie.

i was probably the most sloppily dressed one in the whole of orchard road. clad in my cute, oversized tigger and eeyore shirt and uber comfortable fbt shorts. truly, i don't really care what i'm wearing since there's no one to impress anyway. after all, no one said orchard road had a dress code. it was much easier trying on clothes this way too.

moreover, being dressed sloppily means clingy sales assistants (urgh) won't bother sticking themselves to you since you look like you won't be able to afford anything, and thus by deduction, unable to earn them commision. from the point of view of economists if marginal benefit is less than marginal cost, there is no point pursuing it. i like it that way anyway, since i absolutely detest having a pair of expectant eyes tracking my every movement and an all too fake chirpy voice listing out the whole range to me as if i could absorb and digest all that sales talk then and there.

shopping is tiring.
i don't think i'd ever want to be a tai-tai.

top five most embarassing/traumatising moments.

since something extremely embarassing happened lately, i have decided to walk through the hallways of my memory and dig out the top five most embarassing/traumatising moments of my seventeen year existence.

five.
primary three. having to do weird skipping stunts onstage infront of a panel of judges whilst knowing nuts about how to perform them properly. probably one of the longest few minutes of my life.

four.
primary five. walking into the girls' toilet just needing to do my own business. instead, i ended up walking in on a senior using the toilet with the cubicle door open.

"did you see anything?" she asked, in a deranged sort of voice. (it sounded deranged to me)
"uhhh. nope" said traumatised me.
"goooood girl."

three.
primary four, in australia. toilet break during a long bus journey to the pinnacles.
the queue for the female toilet was just toooooooo long. i ran into the male toilets and took pretty long doing my thing. opening the door feeling much more comfortable than before, i saw the male tour guide pacing outside looking really urgent.

two.
being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
traumatising, and i shall not elaborate on it.

one.
now. so much for being a helpful friend, now i've gotten instant celebrity status. and this is why.
hilarious but extremely embarassing. apologies for the bad acting. *buries face in hands and runs away*

there is a really good video by them and it's found here, all done for their music project.

this week's finally overrr.
feels like a heavy load's finally off my shoulders.

it's undeniable.

music: angels or devils by dishwalla

i am procrastinating!

music assignment has been pushed aside to accomodate yet another typical hate at first sight turned love story.

i finished watching the whole of full house in three days (loads of fast forwarding included!). personally i think the show is totally overrated. but i must admit that just for the sake of witnessing their happy ending, i pressed on with it. of course, i was rewarded with the overpoweringly sweet (okay i admit i don't mind, i actually rewatched that part) cuddle-while-watching-the-sunset ending.

i am craving ice cream. :D

one, you're like a dream come true.

music: back at one by brian mcknight

i love this song. it's so old, but yet, i never get sick of it.
it's too sweet to be true.
call me a diehard romantic, fine, i admit it.

i want to live in a fairytale today.

because this world is too screwed up sometimes.
because sylvia plath is depressing me.
because it is 12.40am and i am in daydreaming mode.
because then things will go my way.
because i would be carefree for life.
because i have two tests tomorrow.

four, repeat steps one through three.

tonight i will go to sleep dreaming that i am eve dallas.
given any choice to be a fictional character, she'd be my first choice.

i am rambling.
i love it late at night when everyone's asleep and i am just here, feeling like i'm the only person in the world.
i am constantly wondering whether at this exact moment, someone else is thinking the exact thought as me, doing the exact thing as me.

time to sleep.
goodnight, world.

and i'll start it back at one.

and all revolves around you.

music: one jump ahead (from aladdin) from the magical music of disney

met up with ngiam on friday for dinner. thank goodness for organisers or i would've probably messed up and forgotten about it. haha. dinner was fine, and mostly we just walked, and walked, and walked. and the ndp stage on the marina bay waterfront is really nice! seeing the reflection of the stagelights shimmering on the water was just so sensational. i don't know why, but pretty lights and the water just make me happy. haha.

somehow we walked from city hall all the way to clarke quay. and oh, i found the little bronze statues of a mother cat and her kittens! finally. i have been looking for them for ages because i forgot where they were.

on the way while walking i stopped to get ice cream, the street vendor type where you get a huge chunk of ice cream along with bread for just a dollar. there was a very cute little boy, whom i presume is the son of the street vendor, he was so tiny, probably coming up to slightly taller than my knee. let's just call him mr. adorable. so mr. adorable had this fixation on the huge icebox that was filled to the brim with melting ice and cans of drinks. he would struggle to hoist his little body up the side of the icebox so he could reach into the icy water, circle his arms in the water a few rounds before grabbing a can and gingerly pushing himself back on the ground. then mr. adorable would place the can on the edge of the ice box and give it repeated little nudges till it went "plop!" right back into the icy pool.

hahaha. cute kid.

someone go with me on a hunt for all the little spots in singapore that we never ever explore!

ngiam gave me one spot to go to, ann siang street. and i will note it down and go there once i have time.

saw this secret on ljsecret.

i like it. (:

okay. work beckons. oh, i found an SIM game! it's called hooky. check it out. it's pretty cute.
